Mystery Behind Daniel’s 70th Week | End Time Events Occurrence

A Large tornado – Sign of end times

The End of the World. When will end-time events occur?

In the Hebrew Bible, God’s calendar is based on a 7-year agricultural cycle, with the 7th year being a Sabbath year of rest for the land. (Exodus 23:10-11, Leviticus 25:1-7) This is called a ‘shmitah’ cycle and God’s end-time plan and schedule are organized using shmitah cycles.

In Daniel 9:24-27, God tells us there will be 70 shmitah cycles before He ends Satan’s present world system and establishes the reign of the Messiah as King of kings over all nations on the earth. Since Jesus completed His earthly mission after the 69th cycle, men and angels have been waiting for ‘Daniel’s 70th week‘ to begin, when Satan’s reign will finally end and God’s reign will be established forever.

Beautiful Landscape

Experts differ about when the next shmitah cycle will start, but the overwhelming majority believe it will start in either 2021, 2022, or 2023.

Daniel’s 70th Week: 2021-2028?

Based on Michael Rood’s Daniel's 70th Week, The End Times (Endtimes) Seventieth Weekcompelling assertion that Jesus was crucified and resurrected in the year 28 AD, the 7-year period between 2021 and 2028 is my top candidate for the final shmitah cycle before the end of this age.

Why 2021-2028?

Assuming the 28AD crucifixion date is correct, the 2000-year anniversary of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, and (probably) the 6000-year anniversary of Adam’s creation, will be in 2028. This is a significant milestone, since afterward mankind will enter into the grand Sabbath, the ‘7th day of rest’ since Adam’s creation–the millennial reign of the Messiah. (Revelation 20:1-6)

Do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day. (2 Peter 3:8)

How Will We Know We’re In Daniel’s 70th Week?

The confirmation of a 7-year covenant initiates Daniel’s 70th Week, but if it’s a secret agreement we won’t know that Daniel’s 70th week has started.

“And he will confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put an end to sacrifice and offering.” (Daniel 9:27)

We’ll certainly have a suspicion that we’re in the final shmitah cycle when we start to experience events listed in the Sequence of End-time Events. But Jesus gave us the first absolute signpost that we’re in Daniel’s 70th week. He said we’ll see ‘The Abomination of Desolation,’ so there won’t be any doubt when it occurs.  The Abomination of Desolation is when the Antichrist sits in the temple and proclaims himself to be God, as described in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4,

“Let no one in any way deceive you, for the Day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.”

According to the prophecy in Daniel 9, the Abomination of Desolation will occur at the mid-point of Daniel’s 70th week. Since this 7-year period will end on a Yom Kippur, the mid-point will be on a Passover, three and one-half years before the end.

When we see the Abomination of Desolation, Jesus warns those in Judea to immediately flee to the mountains because ‘the great tribulation’ is beginning.

This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.  Therefore when you see the ‘Abomination of Desolation’ which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. (Matthew 24:14-16)

Therefore, if the Abomination of Desolation occurs on Passover 2025,  we’ll know that Daniel’s 70th week started in 2021 and it will conclude in 2028. The first resurrection of saints will occur in the 7th year on the Day of Trumpets in 2028, and the second coming of Christ will be 10 days later at the Battle of Armageddon on the Day of Atonement in the autumn of 2028.

Daniel’s 70th Week if not 2021-2028?

However, if the Abomination of Desolation doesn’t occur on Passover 2025, then 2021-2028 cannot be the shmitah cycle for Daniel’s 70th week.

If Daniel’s 70th week doesn’t start in 2021,  respectable arguments have been made for it to start in 2022, 2023, 2028, or 2029.

Conclusion

Whichever shmitah cycle ends up being correct, the same pattern of end-time events will occur; only the start/end times will change. The pattern of events is detailed in the Sequence of End-Time Events.
