Before sending them out to minister Jesus told His 12 disciples:
“Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)
I believe all Christian ministry should be freely available to everyone, without regard to a person’s ability to pay for materials or contribute to a ministry. I think it’s wrong for ministries to charge an admission fee to an event, or charge money for the content of Christian teachings, and I’m embarrassed for God’s name whenever I hear ‘ministers’ begging for donations.
If a minister is really doing God’s work, then God will spontaneously prompt believers and disciples to provide the resources needed to cover that ministry’s expenses. (For practical, historical examples, go to my Our Daily Bread blog post and scroll down to the Examples of God Providing Daily Bread heading.)
Hudson Taylor said,
“Depend on it. God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterward, and He much prefers doing so.”
(Hudson Taylor 1832-1905 Missionary to China)
Therefore, my policy is to freely provide all my teachings to everyone, worldwide, through this website.
Immediately after telling the apostles to freely give their spiritual ministry to all, Jesus said they should expect to receive material support in return:
“Do not carry any gold or silver or copper in your belts. Take no bag for the road, or a second tunic, or sandals, or staff; for the worker is worthy of his provisions.” (Matthew 10:10)
So, for all those who appreciate the spiritual benefits they’ve received through this ministry, I solicit your prayers and blessings in return, that God’s Spirit would continue to bless me with revelation and guidance into His kingdom.
